Obituary:
John Jaka, an old resident of Dayton township, died recently at the Soldiers’ Home at Quincy, Ill., of heart trouble. Mr. Jaka was a native of Germany. He enlisted in the Ninth Illinois Infantry in August, 1861, and served as a private until September, 1863. He has one son in the military service in the Philippine islands and one on a farm in Dayton township. He was over 70 years of age.1
