In a letter written on July 4th, 1849, to his father (John) and brothers (Jesse and Joseph), who were on their way to California, David Green said “We have all enjoyed good health so far and had nothing to marr our peace and happiness except the death of little Byron. He departed this life on the 6th of May. Isabella will give you the particulars.”1
