Obituary:
Charles Willard Clifford, 97, of Ottawa, formerly of Dayton, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, at the La Salle County Nursing Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gladfelter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. John P. Meyers of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Dayton Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Gladfelter Funeral Home.
Mr. Clifford was born Aug. 3, 1905, in Serena Township to John M. and Fannie (Malaise) Clifford. He married Grace Green on June 26, 1937. He was a farmer, 4-H leader and longtime member of the Dayton school board. He lived in Dayton until two years ago when the couple moved to Heritage Woods of Ottawa.
Mr. Clifford is survived by his wife; two daughters, Candace Wilmot of Urbana and Sally (Richard) Berner of Heyworth; two granddaughters, Tracy Berner of Springfield and Laurel (Chris) Sims of Plainfield; two sisters, Elizabeth Roberts of Centennial, Colo., and Frances Nash of Englewood, Colo., and a brother, Ralph Clifford of Gainesville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Clifford and Mrs. Abram (Hazel) Sears and a brother, Clarence Clifford.1
