Louis Morel, Killed by a Fall of Earth Near Dayton

Just after noon yesterday Louis Morel, who was taking coal from a small surface mine near Dayton, was found crushed to death beneath a mass of earth which had caved in on him, while at work during the morning. Morel was a married man, and leaves, besides his wife, two children residing at Dayton. Henry Morel, of Trabing & Morel, of this city, is a cousin of deceased. Coroner Taylor held an inquest, finding that the death was accidental.1

CRUSHED IN A COAL BED

Louis Morrell Instantly Killed at Dayton Wednesday Morning by a Cave In

Louis Morrell, a Dayton man who owned and worked a bank coal mine near that town, was instantly killed Wednesday A. M. by the caving in of the bank. He was working alone and went to work as usual this morning. When he failed to come Home to dinner his family became alarmed and went out to hunt for him, fearing that he had met with some accident. At the coal be the searchers found to body buried under several tons of dirt. Death was evidently instantaneous.2
